Rob has made a good start to 2025/26 season.
At the opening WBL event (Jim Williamson Open) in Leeds Rob made the semi finals narrowly losing out to Merseysides Peter Sheehan. However in his quarter final match Rob made his highest competitive break with a beautifully constructed 738 versus his long time friend Christian Kirk.
The next event was an EABA ABC ranking event at The Cueball club in Derby. Rob played well throughout the day and secured the victory. In the final Rob beat the ever present Darren Kell, a tenacious match player from the Billiards hotbed of Teeside. Rob took out the highest break of the day with a 256 against Chris Achilles.
The third event of the season was the Whitworth Masters held in the small Derbyshire village of Darley Dale. Continuing his strong start to the season Rob claimed his 10th Whitworth Masters title after coming through a very classy field of 8 invited players. Rob clashed with Darren Kell in the final and won 719-313. Rob won the high break prize with a run of 357 in his semi final against Paul Roberts.
With the events now coming thick and fast it was to Landywood Snooker Club for the WBL English Open and World Championships. Rob played well in the first event and made the final only to lose out to the very talented David Causier. David also beat Rob in the World Championships at the semi final stage and went on to claim his umpteenth world title. Well done Dave!! With Rob putting in another strong performance during that week he secured and remains at number 3 in the world rankings.
Next up was the first qualifying stage of the English Championship again at Landywood Snooker Club. Rob qualified safely and is now through to the last 32 which will be held in January 2026. Rob made the highest break of the day with a 452 against his Lincoln snooker teammate Dale Schofield. Rob is bidding for his 10th English Championship title.
On the 9th November 2025 Rob was on the road again and this time to the Atak Snooker Club in Nuneaton for the second EABA ABC of the season. The start of the day saw Rob struggle through the early rounds on what were some tricky table conditions but he found some form when it was needed in the latter stages. Rob once again came out victorious, this time against a returning to the game Roxton Chapman. It’s wonderful to see Roxton playing again. The score in the final was 577-34. Rob made the high break of the day with a 310 against Mark Hirst in his semi final match.
Updates will follow as the season continues…
